SHAHMARAN,
THE MASTER OF SNAKES... |
| |
He
has encraved Shahmaran on the brass tray in front of him... He is
standing, with his back on the wall. He isn't aware that
I am shooting
photos. It is clear that he is wandering so-mewhere in
deep... The master of snakes is on the brass tray in front of him. He
made Shahmaran
with his own hands... He seems to have chatted with
Shahmaran... He looks deep. His conscience is misty. He has fallen into
the legend. You
shouldn't touch him till he escapes from dreams. He is
now be-side
Shahmaran, Master of the Sna-kes... The story goes on
moving in his dreams...What is in my mind seems to fall on the tray. Are
the legends
true? Or are they artistic expres-sions of past ages... I
perceive them like
that. These words have lived for centuries. The legend of
Shahmaran,
Lokman Physician has lived for years, isn't this
permanence? According
to the legend, when Shahmaran was setting the human being
to daylight
he knew that he himself would die because of this man. Why does
he accept to be killed so easy? When he is killed and
boiled in water,
his broth kills the vizier but heals the princess and
present the Lokman
Physician the secret of immortality. There is everything
in the legend. Centuries ago, the human being loaded all his feelings to
this legend. There is treachery, there is healing and punishment. But
most important of all, there is a search at the end of this legend. The
human being is searching immortality. During centuries, human being has
always
thought about this. Today, he is still thinking about
this. The scientists try to make humans live longer, they are always
searching immortality...
Is immortality in the body or in what is created? In the legend of
Shahmaran, the answer to this question is very clear.
Lokman Physician
couldn't find immortality among billions of herbs and
flowers. But a
narration has been immortal. The inhabitant of Mardin
encraves the
immortal legend onto the copper. The motifs of Shahmaran
will be
hanged on a wall. Human beings will look at these motifs
and remember the story narrating the age old legend. The legend of
Shahmaran
will go on living.
