In
Mardin, the first week of May is
celebrated for such occasions in
the context of the “coming of
spring” as Hassıt Merene and
Hıdır Ellez. There is also a
special Gırnavaz memorial day.
March 13 is significant as the
date of Atatürk’s first
arrival in Mardin. 21 November
is the day of liberation.
